STC Straight Magazines for KIKK Tip Changer

STC Linear Magazine Advantages

  • Simplified Robot Teaching

Instead of using compound angles to ensure the gun arm/cap remain perpendicular to the magazine as the new cap retracts, the gun opens slightly and simply “pulls back” from the changer with the cap. See the video above or download the presentation at left for an illustration. This can help save time during the teach process, and even time for each tip change (particularly with X guns).

  • Smaller Profile

The KIKK Tip Changer with STC magazines has a 39% smaller face profile than it does when using rotary magazines.

  • Poka-yoke System for Cap Sizes

The location of the rail guides on each magazine is different for various cap diameters, preventing accidental mix-ups. See the STC Introduction Presentation for more.

  • Reduces Weight of Tip Changer

New and retrofit units with the STC magazines weigh approximately 4 lbs. (1.8 kg) less than units with MG magazines.

  • Reduced Cost

Each STC straight magazine costs approximately 15% less than the MG rotary mags — The retrofit kit, including STC magazines, plus adapters and cables, is the same price as a set of MG magazines alone.

Frequently Asked Questions about the STC Linear Magazine

The tip change cycle time with the new linear magazines is the same or shorter than tip changes with the rotary MG mags. In some applications, the cycle will be shorter with the new STC magazines, since it reduces the number and complexity of movements required to pull the new cap from the magazine. (This is especially true for tip changers serving X-guns.)

All orders for new projects utilizing the KIKK Tip Changer will include the STC linear magazine. There are multiple operational advantages to the new STC linear magazine (see above), plus a cost savings compared to the MG rotary magazine.

Yes. The new magazine utilizes the same central body unit and cap gripper/remover, but the new linear magazines are closer to the body and require different movement to add a cap to an empty shank.

Spare parts lists will be available upon request. Please include the tip changer model number with your request.

You can purchase individual STC magazines. Retrofit kits are also available if you would like to replace a rotary MG magazine with the new STC model.

The physical installation of the Retrofit Kit — two STC magazines, two magazine adapters and sensor packages — takes less than 10 minutes to complete. Please note that retrofits from MG magazines to STC magazines will also require a new robot teach.

The new magazines are compatible with the Kyokutoh’s stand without modification. Please note that custom tooling on the stand or an end effector may require adjustment.

The STC linear magazines have the same capacities as the old MG rotary magazines. The STC magazines hold 14 pieces of 13mm diameter caps, 12 pieces of 16mm caps, and 10 pieces of 19mm caps.
